GESTIONE DEL RISCHIO LEGIONELLA

Legionella (Legionella pneumophila) è un bacillo gram-negativo in grado di sopravvivere nell’acqua, nel fango e nei terreni umidi, che si trasmette per via aerea (inalazione di aerosol). Il bacillo è responsabile della legionellosi, che si può presentare in due malattie distinte: Malattia dei Legionari e Febbre di Pontiac.

La Malattia dei Legionari si manifesta con sintomi analoghi alla polmonite ed è l’infezione più grave mentre la Febbre di Pontiac è la forma più leggera con sintomi simil-influenzale.

Legionella si trasmette attraverso l’inalazione aerea di goccioline di acqua infetta che ospitano il batterio Legionella e che possono essere diffuse nell’aria da fonti di ristagno di acqua.

Solo grazie ad una accurata prevenzione e manutenzione ordinaria, è possibile mantenere basso il rischio.
